A bedside table should be easy to reach without becoming an overcrowded ledge. Put together the items you actually keep beside the bed, then use that small collection to judge top size, storage and cable access.

This guide focuses on selecting the right type and setup for your own routine. It is not a ranking of products or a claim that a particular brand has been tested.

Compare the table with the complete bed

Measure the bed with its normal mattress and bedding, and compare the proposed table height and position. Consider how drawers or doors will open next to the bed frame. A matching furniture collection does not automatically ensure that every piece sits conveniently in your particular arrangement.

Give the surface a specific job

Plan space for the objects you use most often, such as a lamp, book or phone stand. Check the lamp’s base and any manufacturer placement requirements. A drawer can keep small items organized, but it should not reduce the remaining surface to a space too small for your normal routine.

Check access and installation

Think about outlets, cable routes and any wall features behind the table. Read assembly and installation instructions, including required restraints or mounting arrangements. If choosing a wall-mounted design, confirm the wall and fixing requirements with suitable professional help rather than guessing from its appearance.

Before you order

  • Measure beside the assembled bed.
  • Plan a clear place for each frequent item.
  • Check drawers, cables and installation requirements.

Use the listing for the exact model, size or variant you intend to buy. If a necessary detail is missing, ask the retailer or manufacturer before paying. Check the final basket total and current delivery and return terms for that selection.

Making the choice

A table with modest storage can work well when the surface remains useful. Choose accessible space over extra compartments that make the bedside area harder to reach or clean.
